A narrative inquiry on a Christian scriptwriter’s experiences of her work

초록/요약

The purpose of this narrative inquiry was to understand and reinterpret how a TV drama scriptwriter experiences and make meaning of her work. The findings indicate that J, the participant, experienced and gave meaning to her work as follows; First, J experienced her creative work as both vocation and part of her daily life. Second, she experienced her work as a conversation between herself—who initiates the story—and the viewers—who complete it. Third, her religion unintentionally influenced her work. Fourth, although the creative process involved significant physical and psychological suffering, J accepted this suffering as meaningful and integral to her work. Fifth, J communicated with herself, the production crew, and even her created characters. Her spiritual life with God sometimes changed the direction of her script. J’s work experiences were reinterpreted as process of acceptance and of expression of what J had embraced. It was also interpreted as an extension of J’s scope through communication and acknowledgement. The article suggested implications for the Christian Counseling field.
